When Every Premier League Club Last Won a Major Trophy – International Edition
The leading teams in the Premier League are accustomed to claiming significant titles frequently; however, it has been many years since certain elite clubs have tasted victory and lifted trophies.
When Arsenal exited the Champions League, they were left with no choice but to wait until the next season for a chance at winning some trophies. However, how does this dry spell in terms of victories stack up against their competitors?
After examining every team from the Premier League individually, we’ve determined when their most recent significant victory was recorded. In this analysis, trophies such as those awarded for winning the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, or any competition within Europe were considered major achievements.
Based on that definition, the present Premier League teams that haven’t claimed a significant trophy include Bournemouth, Brentford, Brighton, Crystal Palace, and Fulham — with four out of these five being part of the FA Cup quarter-finals this year and hoping to secure their maiden title in 2025.
We’ve subsequently ordered the leftover 15 teams based on the most recent time they claimed a significant trophy.
Liverpool – Premier League (2025)
Arne Slot’s team has dominated the league this season, securing the Premier League title with multiple matches remaining.
“It feels wonderful. I don’t believe I need to elaborate much. The sole thing left is to express my gratitude to Jurgen Klopp,” Slot said to LFCTV following their championship win.
There have been numerous instances throughout this season where we’ve interacted. I believe he demonstrated his remarkable qualities as an individual last season when he introduced me.
What truly mattered was the team he left behind, which went on to claim the trophy.
Newcastle – EFL Cup (2025)
Following 70 years of drought without securing a significant trophy, Newcastle ultimately ended their wait in March by claiming victory in the League Cup.
Eddie Howe’s team nearly secured victory in the League Cup during the 2022-23 season but lost out to Manchester United in the final.
Even though they were considered the underdogs in this year’s final against Liverpool, they emerged as deserving victors on the day, securing a 2-1 win over Arne Slot’s team.
Manchester United – FA Cup (2024)
The past ten years have been quite tumultuous for Manchester United, but following their victory in the FA Cup, they remain the second-most recent English team to claim a significant title.
The FA Cup ultimately helped save Erik ten Hag’s position, but he was dismissed after just nine matches into the following season.
Since Ruben Amorim took over, things haven’t quite gone as planned; however, the team still retains a possibility of clinching the Europa League title this campaign.
Manchester City – Premier League Season 2024
In recent years, Pep Guardiola’s team has been an invincible presence in the Premier League, securing six out of the past seven league championships.
Nevertheless, since the long-standing title holders have been lagging behind this season, their sole opportunity for claiming any trophies rests entirely on the FA Cup.
West Ham – Europa Conference League (2023)
The night in Prague will be etched in the minds of all West Ham supporters. Jarrod Bowen proved to be the key player on this significant occasion, scoring the decisive goal in the 90th minute.
Chelsea – FIFA Club World Cup (2022)
So far, Chelsea have not claimed any significant trophies since adopting their new ownership structure, although they did secure their most recent title by winning the FIFA Club World Cup in February 2022.
At the helm during this victory was Thomas Tuchel, whose team defeated Palmeiras in extra time to secure the trophy.
Leicester City – FA Cup (2021)
Since this time, The Foxes have claimed victory in the Community Shield; however, for the purpose of this article, we haven’t included that as one of their significant trophies.
That means their last major triumph was in 2021 when Brendan Rodgers’ side lifted the FA Cup, beating Chelsea in the final thanks to a Youri Tielemans strike.
Arsenal – FA Cup (2020)
During his first season at the Emirates, Mikel Arteta lifted the FA Cup, yet he hasn’t claimed another significant title since then.
Along his journey, he has secured a few Community Shields, yet Arsenal aims for the most significant accolades within reach.
They couldn’t match Liverpool’s speed in the Premier League this season and have been eliminated from the Champions League by PSG lately.
As such, Arsenal will not get another opportunity to claim a significant title until at least 2026.
Tottenham – Carabao Cup (2008)
They have narrowly missed out on securing silverware since then, but their most recent significant trophy is still the League Cup won under Juande Ramos’ guidance in 2008.
Aston Villa – EFL Cup (1996)
It has been almost three decades since Aston Villa last won a significant trophy. The team claimed the League Cup back in the 1995-96 season by easily defeating Leeds United in the final match.
Given Unai Emery is now in charge, there’s a strong possibility they will secure some trophies in the upcoming seasons.
Despite their ongoing participation in both the FA Cup and the Champions League, Aston Villa has the potential to conclude the 2024-25 season as trophy winners.
Everton – FA Cup (1995)
Paul Rideout netted the winning goal as Everton defeated Manchester United in the 1994-95 FA Cup final. Since then, the club hasn’t achieved much apart from their victory in the Community Shield in 1996.

Nottingham Forest – EFL Cup (1990)
Nottingham Forest, a team with an illustrious past as two-time winners of the European Cup, have recently found themselves spending much of their time in the Championship. Despite this rich heritage, they haven’t added anything new to their trophy collection lately.
Their most recent victory in a significant tournament dates back to 1990 when they claimed the League Cup title by defeating Oldham Athletic in the finals.
Ipswich Town – UEFA Cup (1981)
The Tractor Boys last claimed silverware in the early eighties when Bobby Robson’s team won the UEFA Cup, which is now called the Europa League.
They succeeded in outplaying AZ Alkmaar in a two-leg finale, defeating the Dutch team with an overall score of 5-4.
Wolves – EFL Cup (1980)
Wolves have claimed the top spot in England’s football league three times, though their most recent significant victory was back in 1980 when they won the League Cup.
They have subsequently claimed victory in the Football League Trophy and Championship multiple times, though these successes do not qualify as significant achievements in our assessment.
Southampton – FA Cup (1976)
Last year, Southampton hoisted the Championship playoff trophy at Wembley, though we’re not considering that among their significant accolades. Their most recent major title dates back to 1976 when they won the FA Cup.
