As per global reports, American diplomatic personnel along with security experts have formulated a strategy to enforce rigorous travel limitations on individuals hailing from 43 nations, such as Liberia.

This plan divides these countries into three categories according to their assessed security threats and governmental efficiency.

According to the suggested policy, 11 nations have been categorized under a “red” list, indicating that their residents will face a complete ban on entry into the United States. Additionally, another set of 10 countries has been marked with an “orange” designation, suggesting that they will encounter limitations but not an outright prohibition for travelers coming to the U.S.

Moreover, 22 nations such as Liberia have been included on a “yellow” watchlist and provided with a 60-day window to rectify their security shortcomings; failure to do so could result in possible restrictions on international travel.

Although the specific security shortcomings did not appear in the document, countries marked on the ‘yellow’ watchlist also encompass Angola, Antigua and Barbuda, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Chad, the Republic of the Congo, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Dominica, Equatorial Guinea, Gambia, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, São Tomé and Príncipe, Vanuatu, and Zimbabwe.

In addition, the document also highlighted that the suggested limitations arise due to worries about inadequate or corrupted governance along with security issues in the countries impacted.

Although the Liberian Government hasn’t commented on this development, The New Dawn examined official U.S. government sources without finding any verification of the policy.

This document reveals that the proposed implementation of a possible travel restriction prohibiting Liberian citizens from entering the United States allegedly stemmed from an executive order issued by President Donald Trump shortly after he assumed office in January. This directive called for officials to assemble a list of nations subject to potential travel bans within a period of 60 days.

Mr. Trump characterized the list as an essential step to safeguard the United States against possible security risks.

During President Trump’s initial term, travel bans were enforced; however, these were partly rescinded under the Biden administration in 2021. Should they be reinstated, the fresh limitations would signify a comeback and amplification of previous measures.

It is reported that the U.S. State Department along with various security agencies are currently assessing the proposal; however, no definitive conclusion has been reached yet.

As events unfold, Liberians along with people from other specified countries will keenly observe if the U.S. administration proceeds with implementing these travel limitations.
