Babcock Don Urges Appointing IT Leaders to Top Management Roles

Professor Adewale Adebayo, an expert in Computer Science, Information Systems, and Information Security, has urged organizations—such as universities—to appoint specialists in these fields to senior management roles within their institutions.

The suggestion was put forth during the Babcock University’s 53rd inaugural lecture entitled “Information Systems and Their Security – Seeking Divine Utilization of Information.”

Professor Adebayo stated that the suggestion stemmed from the growing significance of efficient information management in organizations, where making decisions based on data has become essential.

He went on to say that information systems are crucial for aiding management and strategic decision-making in universities, enabling these institutions to address the challenges presented by governmental bodies, students, and various stakeholders.

He stressed the significance of having high-level executives with strong computer skills who can manage an organization’s informational requirements.

Professor Adebayo highlighted the importance of fostering ethical behavior and computational conduct, beginning within one’s own household.

He urged organizations to focus on enhancing productivity and integrating security measures right from the system design phase, instead of tacking them on later as an afterthought.

He pointed out that incorporating built-in security measures during the initial design phase can help avoid problems and maintain efficiency, instead of tacking them on later.

Moreover, Professor Adebayo recommended that organizations should claim responsibility for their archived information and establish clear guidelines for utilizing social media platforms, employing these tools mainly for official duties once they have been customized and funded.

He similarly encouraged employers, especially those in the educational field, to acknowledge the importance of professional experience within industries during teacher recruitment and to factor this into their selection procedures accordingly.

Professor Adebayo stressed the importance of acknowledging industrial expertise and giving it appropriate consideration in evaluations, especially for individuals who possess pertinent experience.
