
Budget FY26: Govt Unveils Tariff Rationalization Strategy
On Friday, it was revealed that Pakistan is developing a plan for tariff rationalization. This initiative emerged during consultations about drafting the Federal Budget for 2025-2026, as stated in a release from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
At the meeting led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, participants were informed that discussions with the private sector—encompassing different economic industries—regarding budget preparations have been taking place over the last three months.
They learned that a five-year Trade Policy Framework for 2025-2030 will be finalized shortly, and the eCommerce 2.0 Framework is likewise nearing completion.
It was additionally revealed that plans are underway for formulating a strategy regarding tariff rationalization.
“Collaboration between the government and private sector is essential for the nation’s progress and wellbeing,” stated Prime Minister Shehbaz. “Offering assistance to the general public will be the primary focus of the forthcoming budget,” he further noted.
The prime minister stated that every accessible resource would be employed to alleviate the monetary hardships faced by those less fortunate.
