Ex- Chairman of Jhapa Gold Cup, Binod Basnet, Found Dead

Biratnagar, May 9 — Former Jhapa Gold Cup Chairman Binod Basnet was discovered deceased at his residence on Friday. Police reports indicate that Basnet was found hanged within his room in Birtamode Municipality-1.

Entrepreneur Basnet, aged 52, was deeply involved in numerous organizations and initiatives connected with both commerce and societal fields.

He previously served as the chairman of the Jhapa Gold Cup organising committee, vice president of the JCI Nepal National Executive Committee, and president of both the Birata JCI and the Rotary Club of Birtamode.

Moreover, he served as a member of the executive committee for the FNCCI in Koshi Province, held the position of general secretary at the Mechi Petroleum Dealers Association, and co-ordinated the “Ekka Lagi Ek” initiative. Additionally, he headed both Samaj Jhapa and several enterprises such as Sayapatri Trade Link.

The police are carrying out an inquiry to determine the reason for Basnet’s demise.
