Fabulous Woman Network Celebrates a Decade of Empowerment
By Elizabeth PUNSU
The Fabulous Woman Network (FWN), an energetic program aimed at uplifting women and young people, is marking ten years of significant influence in areas such as leadership, business creation, and social progress.
Established in 2015 by Ama Duncan, FWN started as an individual initiative aimed at narrating tales of remarkable women—a venture fueled by the wish to highlight the journeys of inspiring females such as her mother, acquaintances, and individuals met through social media platforms like Facebook.
Initially a small-scale effort, this project has grown into a dynamic stage that has provided countless women and youth with the means to flourish.
Via key initiatives like the yearly International Marvelous Women Conference (iMWC), this network has motivated and equipped women throughout the Ashanti Region and farther afield.
At a fundraising dinner and gala celebrating the pinnacle of its 10th anniversary festivities, Ama Duncan reinforced FWN’s commitment to enhancing the capabilities of women, young people, and organizations. The event also highlighted their dedication to fostering successful futures via leadership and entrepreneurial endeavors.
When reflecting on the network’s influence over the last ten years, Ms. Duncan pointed out that FWN has highlighted more than 400 women’s narratives on digital platforms.
Over 8,000 women have been trained in leadership and entrepreneurship, and 400 young people from underprivileged areas have gained access to mentoring and skill development programs—among them, 10 individuals who are now working at FabHub, which is an initiative supported by FWN.
In line with its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, FWN has built a community health center for the inhabitants of Aboabo Kesse close to Kumasi.
Ms. Duncan also emphasized that over 20 women have received support in obtaining funding for their enterprises, and more than 5,000 women have become part of the broader Fabulous Woman community network.
One standout moment at the event was the presentation of the Fab Women of Influence Awards, recognizing ten exceptional women who have made significant impacts through their work in fostering community growth, demonstrating leadership, and driving meaningful change.
The honorees comprised: Prof. Victoria Pearl Dzogbefia, Theodocia Jackson, Nana Abenaa Akuamoa-Boateng, Cecilia Oteng-Amoako, Hon. Elizabeth Agyemang, Kate Laryea, and Mercy Ampofo. Additional individuals acknowledged were Very Rev. Dr Esi Oduro Asante, Nana Yaa Asantewaa II, and Janet Gyimah Kessie.

In the future, Ms. Duncan presented FWN’s Vision 2030: the creation of the Fab Village Model. This bold program seeks to affect more than one million females throughout Africa via secure empowerment environments, guidance, business acumen development, and narrative sharing.
Impact stories
One of the individuals whose life has been changed via FWN is Emmanuella Acheampong, who participated in the Fab Entrepreneurs Programme in 2018.
“We received training in utilizing textiles to craft jewelry and accessories. Ama Duncan once requested that I design some items for her journey to South Africa. Upon her return, she compensated me with dollars—my very first payment of this kind. Nowadays, I manage several bank accounts, one of which holds dollars, and oversee a thriving enterprise. Thanks to FWN, my initial investment has expanded from 20 percent to 200 percent,” she recounted.
Naana Addotey, who took part in the fabCEO Mastermind program designed specifically for career-oriented women aiming to start and expand their enterprises, shared her insights as well.
“In the fabCEO Mastermind and FWN, you find yourself among women who challenge and support you. We rejoice in each other’s successes, which motivates us all,” she stated.
Presenting the main speech, Coach Taaka Awori encouraged attendees to keep supporting women and leverage the strength of teamwork to promote comprehensive growth.
