From Famed Celebrities to Seeking Support: Benson Okonkwo’s Journey

He told

“I’m struggling with depression and have had enough. It’s time for the world to hear my plea for help. Even after two decades in Nollywood, I can’t say I’ve achieved much; there’s virtually nothing to be proud of. Many actors hesitate to share their struggles, but I believe it’s crucial to voice them rather than suffer quietly.”

I’m simply showing courage by speaking up, as many individuals won’t come forward and share their thoughts. There are numerous others in similar circumstances who remain silent, but I can’t bring myself to hide the truth. I tend to be quite direct.

The actor mentioned that even though he had appeared in several films, he didn’t receive payment for his work, which was causing significant stress.

“I began my career alongside individuals such as Zubby Michael, Ken Erics, and Frederick Leonard,” he mentioned additionally.

Okonkwo mentioned that he has “assisted” numerous famous individuals throughout the years, and now these people should step up to support him. He expressed, “I’ve attempted every approach possible; unfortunately, they haven’t succeeded. As I advance in age, I must find a wife. Additionally, I require funds to establish my own enterprise.”

I cannot remain composed and back them without help. I have backed White Money, Tasha, Phyna, Laycon, and Kelly Rae (former Big Brother Naija champions). It doesn’t bother me if they all listen to my plea now. Additionally, I supported Queen May (Yul Edochie’s ex-wife).

When queried about whether he had directly contacted the individuals he referenced, the actor responded, “I’ve been attempting to do so, yet it has not been simple to get through to them. This is precisely why I’m coming forward publicly at this time.”

Okonkwo also expressed his regret over leaving the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where he had been pursuing law studies, in order to pursue his dream of becoming an actor.
