NDC Rejects Receipt of GHC8m From National Signals Bureau – International Edition (English)

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has refuted claims of receiving funds from the National Signals Bureau (NSB) in 2024 for acquiring electoral data management systems and apparatuses.

Hence, the party is requesting the ex-boss of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), Kwabena Adu-Boahen, to reveal which particular opposing parties received more than GH₵8 million from him in 2024.

In an interview with JoyNews, Dr. Rashid Tanko-Computer, who serves as the Deputy Director of Elections and IT for the NDC, stated, “I can authoritatively say that the NDC had no involvement in that story.”

“The individuals they mentioned backed them up during their latest protest. He understands his allies—those are the ones he meant. Everyone must have noticed this. Would my rival provide me with resources to beat him in an election? Is that logical?” he questioned.

Dr. Tanko went on to say that other opposition parties demonstrated little genuine enthusiasm for ousting the New Patriotic Party (NPP), frequently being in alliance with them instead.

“When we were at IPAC, every time the NDC was against the EC and NPP, those parties aligned themselves with the EC and NPP. The NDC had no part in this. We put up a strong fight, utilized our own funds, and delivered a significant setback to the NPP,” he stated.

In response to the question about whether NDC may have received undisclosed funding, he asserted with confidence, “I can vouch for this—such a scenario is impossible. They are merely grasping at straws, which will be of no benefit to them.”

Background

This rejection comes as a reaction to a memorandum sent to the National Security Coordinator. In this memo, the ex-spy leader alleged that the Attorney General was initiating a vindictive legal case against him.

He contended that the GHC 49 million allegedly misappropriated by him was actually utilized for clandestine national security missions.
