NNPCL’s Role in Our Business: A Dangote Story – International Edition (English)
The President of the Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, stated that the Dangote Petroleum Refinery does not compete with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited. He emphasized that NNPC “is an integral part of our operations.”
In a statement released by the NNPC spokesperson, Olufemi Soneye, on Friday, Dangote expressed his views during a visit to the newly appointed Group Chief Executive Officer of the NNPC, Bayo Ojulari, in Abuja.
Soneye mentioned that the visit is an integral part of the continuous initiatives aimed at establishing mutually advantageous collaborations and encouraging healthy rivalry between the NNPC and the Dangote refinery.
Remember that previously, there was an unhealthy competition between the state-run energy firm and the $20 billion refinery, particularly concerning the supply of crude oil priced in naira.
Dangote recently accused certain cabals of continuing to oppose his refinery project, although he specified that these cabals consist primarily of the main distributors rather than the newly appointed NNPC board.
At the gathering, Dangote promised to work alongside the newly formed NNPC leadership team to guarantee energy stability within Nigeria.
“There is no rivalry between us; we are not here to vie against NNPC Ltd. The NNPC is integral to our operations, and we too form an essential part of the NNPC. We are now in an epoch of collaboration between these two entities,” Dangote stated.
The two firms agreed to deepen collaboration aimed at ensuring Nigeria’s energy security and advancing shared prosperity for Nigerians.
As Dangole celebrated the appointments of the GCEO and the top executives, he recognized the significant challenges they faced. He emphasized that the role carried immense weight, but expressed assurance that with the competent team supporting him within NNPC, these hurdles could be overcome successfully.
During his speech, GCEO Ojulari guaranteed Dangote a collaborative relationship based on fair competition and fruitful cooperation for mutual benefit.
Ojulari emphasized the remarkable quality of individuals he encountered within the organization, characterizing the staff as committed, proficient, and diligent experts who are invariably eager to add value for Nigeria.
Ojulari stated that the company aims to create a lasting legacy of national prosperity via innovation and collective goals. He emphasized that NNPC will continue working alongside the Dangote Group, particularly when such partnerships offer economic benefits to Nigeria.
“Both leaders pledged to serve as relationship managers for their respective organizations through consistent collaborative efforts and fair competition, thus foreseeing boundless possibilities for both entities,” the statement ended.
