Zimbabwe’s Economic Future Hinges on Innovation, Says Ncube

The Minister of Bulawayo Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Judith Ncube, has urged for economic innovation to foster entrepreneurial ventures.

During her speech at the City of Bulawayo Research and Innovation Seminar on Thursday, as delivered by Economics Affairs and Investment Director Simon Sawunyama from her office, Ncube highlighted the significant impact that innovation has on propelling Zimbabwe’s industrial and economic development.

She stated that the government’s dedication to promoting an innovative and entrepreneurial spirit, particularly in areas such as sustainable energy, waste management, water management, and climate action, is essential.

“We require local innovators to create cost-effective and expandable solutions to tackle our distinct issues,” stated Ncube.

By working together with partners, we can foster an atmosphere where innovation can flourish.

Ncube emphasized that priority sectors like sustainable energy, waste management, water management, climate action, creative economy, agriculture, and tourism are crucial for Zimbabwe’s resilience and economic success.

The government has committed to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship via programs such as the Zimbabwe Innovation Fund and the development of Industrial Parks.

She stated, ‘We are dedicated to building collaborations among government bodies, educational institutions, and the private sector to promote innovation and boost economic development.’

Experts encouraged researchers and entrepreneurs to create locally tailored solutions for regional issues and establish environmentally sustainable ventures that can thrive on a global scale.
